Ingredients
Rice – 1 cup
Yellow Moong dal – ½ cup
Water – 3 cups
Black peppercorns – 1 tbsp.
Cashewnuts – 1 tbsp.
Ghee – 3 tbsp., divided
Hing or asafetida – a pinch
Split urad dal – ½ tsp.
Cumin – 1 tsp.
Salt to taste
Method
- In a pressure cooker, mix together rice, dal and water and pressure cook.
- Meanwhile, lightly fry the pepper corns and cashewnuts in ghee and keep aside.
- Once the pressure releases, mix the contents well and add the salt, peppercorns and cashewnuts.
- Do the tempering with ghee and remaining ingredients and add it to the rice dal mix.
- Mix well and serve hot.
