Onion Tomato Chutney | Tomato Onion Pachadi

Ingredients

Tomatoes – 3 large, chopped
Onion – 1, chopped
Green chillies – 2 or 3
Peanuts – 2 tbsp. roasted
Urad dal – ½ tbsp.
Garlic – 1 or 2 cloves
Cumin – ½ tsp.
Salt as required
Turmeric – a pinch
Oil – 2 tsp.

For tempering
Oil – 1 tsp.
Urad dal – 1/4 tsp.
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Mustard – ¼ tsp.
Asafoetida – a pinch

Method
1. Heat a pan with a little oil. On a low flame, roast dal till light brown and aromatic. Add cumin or jeera and sauté for a minute and remove.
2. In the same pan, fry chillies, garlic and onion for 2 minutes.
3. When onions change colour, add the tomatoes, salt and turmeric. Cook till soft.
4. Cool and blend all of the above. Can add a little bit of water if required.
5. Do the tempering and serve.
