My Fave Chocolate Brownie – Yummylicious

I am a sucker for anything chocolate and always on the lookout for recipes with chocolate; brownies being one of them. I can never tire of eating a yummylicious brownie. It was just my good luck that I came across this recipe in the website ‘Iambaker’. That was a recipe for a brownie mix in a jar. It looked awesome and so there you go, I tried it out pronto. No mix and jar for me, or storing and keeping it for later use. I made it in one go and the whole lot of brownies finished in just about a couple of days.

Now, now…… Don’t judge me. By the way, I did not eat it all by myself. I did share a few pieces with my husband and the parents. Its taken me a while to write this recipe down here…. and during this time I’ve already made it on a quite a few occasions. My mother was like..”Don’t misplace this recipe”. It was a sort of warning…hahahaha. One more thing, don’t go by the picture as I am pretty bad at food photography. It tasted superb !!

Lets get down to a couple of points. Coming to the sugar part of it, I sometimes use the brown sugar instead of the white or a bit of both. It always turns out good. Anyway, though the recipe has said that the chocolate chips are optional, its better that they are not. It tasted unbelievably good with the addition of the dark chocolate chips. If you don’t have the chips, just chop down a bit of the dark chocolate bar and add it in. There will not be much of a difference. I personally prefer the dark ones, but you can also add the milk or the white chocolate chips too.

Ingredients

Sugar – 1 cup
Cocoa powder – 1/3 cup
Maida or Flour – ½ cup
Salt – ¼ tsp.
Baking powder – ¼ tsp.
Butter – ½ cup, melted and cooled
Eggs – 2, room temperature
Vanilla essence – 1 tsp.
Dark chocolate chips – ½ cup (optional)

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with vanilla essence.
  2. Add in the sugar and give it a good mix.
  3. Now add in all the other dry ingredients and combine well.
  4. Lastly add in the melted and cooled butter and stir till combined properly.
  5. At this stage, you can add in the chocolate chips. Mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a lined square pan and sprinkle some chocolate chips on top and bake for about 20-25 mins at 170 deg.C.
  7. Cool and cut into squares.

As I said earlier, “brownies and me” are a match made on earth 🙂 I tried out so many and will not stop from doing more either. More variety means more recipes here…..
